Execution Strategies
When creating an order, you can choose how you want it to execute. These "Partial Fill Modes" act as execution strategies for your trade.
Mode Overview
| Mode | Description | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| No Partial Fill | Order must fill 100% in one go. | Small orders or when you need the exact full amount at once. |
| Split 3 | Allows filling in up to 3 chunks. | Medium-sized orders. |
| Split 5 | Allows filling in up to 5 chunks. | Medium to large orders. |
| Split 10 | Allows filling in up to 10 chunks. | Large orders that need more liquidity depth. |
| Flexible | Can be filled in unlimited small chunks. | Very large orders (Whales) or low liquidity pairs. |
Why Use Partial Fills?
Minimize Price Impact
Large orders can move the market price against you. By splitting your order into smaller chunks, you reduce the impact each execution has on the price, potentially getting better average pricing.
Improve Execution Rate
Sometimes there isn’t enough liquidity to fill a large order all at once. Partial fills allow your order to execute gradually as liquidity becomes available.
Average Your Entry/Exit
If the market price fluctuates around your limit price, partial fills let you average your position over multiple price points, reducing timing risk.
Choosing the Right Mode
- Small Order (<$1k): Use No Partial Fill. Gas fees might make multiple fills too expensive.
- Medium Order ($1k - $10k): Use Split 3.
- Large Order ($10k - $100k): Use Split 5 or Split 10.
- Whale Order (>$100k): Use Flexible.
